Jon Evans is the Chief of Libraries & Archives at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where he has spent the past 31 years connecting scholars, students, and the general public with art research materials.

During his tenure he has organized more than two dozen book exhibitions, covering topics as disparate as post-war Japanese photobooks, Shakespeare in print, Aaron Douglas’s graphic work, interactive artists’ books, and Andy Warhol on the printed page. Mr. Evans has provided library consultation to non-profit organizations such as the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas.

He has also been an active member of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) for more than two decades, serving as President of the Society in 2012 and as President of the Texas-Mexico Chapter in 2003 and again in 2016. He is currently engaged in helping to organize ARLIS/NA’s first conference in Mexico in its 51-year history. In 2019, he was guest editor for an issue of Quarterly, the Book Club of California’s journal, which was devoted to the photobook in California.
